1216 Sqn first Annual Presentation Evening
On Friday 28th September 1216 (Eastleigh) Squadron Air Training Corps hosted their first ever Annual Presentation Evening. Almost 140 cadets, parents, staff and dignitaries filled the Pavilion on the Park to celebrate the Squadron’s success in 2011-2012. In the last year the Squadron has gone from strength to strength and is emerging as one of the best in Hampshire.
The Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Michael Lee RAFVR(T) thanked his staff, Civilian Welfare Committee, the Parents & Supporters sub-committee and most importantly the Parents & Guardians for the support they show the Squadron and their Cadet. Additionally he wished to thank the Air Cadet Organisation at large, particularly Wing Commander Priest RAFVR(T) who was in attendance and presented the Squadron Warrant Officer, Phillip Hill with his Warrant having been promoted in June.
The Guest of Honour was Air Vice Marshal Luker Retd. who took great pleasure in being able to present the awards for Best Attendance, Best Shot, Contribution to the Community, Best NCO & Best Cadet. In addition he promoted Joshua Cooper and Emma Thwaites to Cadet Corporal in recognition of their leadership and deportment.
1216 (Eastleigh) Squadron ATC pride themselves in offering every activity available to their cadets. This means that they are able to experience an array of activities from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and first aid, to night exercises and kayaking, in addition to the core activities offered by the Air Cadets such as flying, gliding and shooting. The Squadron parade on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 19:00 to 21:30 at their headquarters adjacent to Pavilion on the Park on Kingfisher Road.
