Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wing Air Cadets
2011 Inter-Service Cadet Clay Target Championship
The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wing Air Cadets team had a great weekend at the 2011 Inter-Service Cadet Clay Target Championship that took place at Catterick on the weekend of 24-25 June 2011. The A Team finished 8th and the B Team finished 11th out of a total of 40 teams.
The main competition consisted of two parts; a 50 bird sporting and a 50 bird flush. Both scores were added together to find the overall winners and this year there was a Down the Line competition where all five team members, including the adult team leader, shot together and in which the A team won the competition.
Cadet Cpl Fairbairn also represented the Air Training Corps in their Flush Team, against the Army Cadet Force and Combined Cadet Force, for which he was awarded a Corps Blue. He was also the top scoring ATC cadet scoring 33 out of 50 clays and was awarded a new Wing trophy presented by WO Peter Bradley for this competition.
The A team were Cdt Sgt Webb, Cdt Cpl Burrell, Cdt Holyer and F/Sgt Beddow and the B team, Cdt Cpl Fairbairn, Cdt Spencer, Cdt Hancock and Cdt Letty.
Staff supporting the teams were WO Tony Waller (Hants & IoW Wing Clay Shooting Officer), WO Peter Bradley and Flt Lt Trevor Dolly.
WO Waller retained the adult trophy and tied for first place in the Down the Line competition.
Our teams are sponsored by RAF Odiham Clay Pigeon Club through the use of their facilities and equipment and our thanks go to Sqn Ldr John Mews, Club Chairman David Dyer and club members for their continued support.
