Cadets pass the Youth First Aid Scheme
The Wing First Aid Technical Training Officer Flight Lieutenant Bob Nugent and his team have run 2 two-day courses involving cadets from all across the county.
The first was run at 443 (Basingstoke) Squadron and the second at 424 (City of Southampton) Squadron. Both courses had over thirty cadets in attendance.
The Youth First Aid course (YFA) is aimed at cadets up to the age of sixteen. During the course the cadets were taught all the aspects of first aid including resuscitation, CPR, breaks, burns and bleeding.
At the end of the Southampton course Squadron Leader Whalvin, the Wing Training Officer, presented the cadets with their badges and certificates. He wished those cadets taking part in the inaugural Wing First Aid competition at the Wing Activities Day well and closed with the thought that hopefully none of the cadets would need to use this important life skill for real.
Watch out on sharepoint and Wing Routine Orders for the next course which is expected to run during October.
