Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wing Air Cadets
Staff Cadet Course No.03/11
The third Hants & I.O.W Wing Staff Cadet Course of 2011 was held on the 25th June at 1927 (Petersfield) Squadron.
12 cadets from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight came together to complete the one day training that enables them to remain in the ATC beyond their eighteenth birthday.
The course was run by Squadron Leader’s Gary Knell and Joss Whalvin. The cadets received a welcome brief from Sqn Ldr Graeme Hughes, Deputy OC Hants & I.O.W Wing, before receiving a full days training including presentations on child safeguarding, duty of care and electronic communications as well as scenario based discussions.
Later in the day Wg Cdr Peter Priest, OC Hants & I.O.W Wing, visited the cadets and ran an open forum session.
The course also facilitates the completion of the cadets CRB paperwork and over 18 Application Forms.
Most importantly it gives these young adults an opportunity to ask questions about the ACO and how their role changes once they turn eighteen.
