Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wing Air Cadets
Cadets visit Cobham
Cadets from Hants & IoW have recently visited Cobham, the aerospace company based around the Bournemouth area. Formally called Flight Refuelling, the visit was to their facility at Bournemouth International Airport and the Falcon 20 aircraft they fly. Cadets were first shown the operations that Cobham take part in, followed by an in depth look at the Falcon 20 aircraft themselves. It was conducted by one of the Cobham pilots, himself an ex CWO and included an opportunity for all the cadets to plot a simple route using the aircrafts Flight Management System. This was followed by the engineering section and then an excellent lunch in the staff canteen. After lunch the cadets got to see the engine section and just what damage a seagull can do at 450 MPH! Commenting on the day the Wing Aerospace Officer, Sqn Ldr Gary Knell said "This was a thoroughly enjoyable trip for all involved and the first of many visits I hope to organise for all the cadets and staff within Hants & I.O.W Wing under my remit as Aerospace Officer. Keep checking BADER Share point for future events."
