The second staff cadet course of the year was held on the 27 March at 1216 (Eastleigh) Squadron.

18 cadets from across Hampshire came together at 1216 Squadron to complete the one day training to enable them to remain in the ATC beyond their eighteen birthday.

The course was run by Squadron Leader Gary Knell who was assisted by the Wing Warrant Officer Shaun McCarthy and Squadron Leader Joss Whalvin.

The day included presentations on child safeguarding and duty of care as well as scenario based discussions. The cadets had an opportunity to complete some paperwork as well as asking questions about the ACO and their role within it.

One of the cadets commented "It’s great to get some direction and guidance to allow me to stay in the cadets for two more years."
