Cadets success at Youth First Aid
Last weekend saw 49 cadets from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wing complete and pass with flying colours, the St John's Ambulance (SJA) Youth First Aid (YFA) Award, held at 2515 (Ringwood and Fordingbridge) Squadron. The YFA award is specifically aimed at young people aged between 11-16. The two day course saw cadets put their skills to the test to complete the final theory and practical assessments. All cadets learnt a variety of First Aid skills: including CPR, unconscious casualty/ the recovery position, and bandaging to name but a few. Well done to all cadets for achieving great results and been successfully awarded the SJA YFA Red badge. Many thanks to the staff and cadets that supported the event.
H&IOW Wg Training and Development Officer Sqn Ldr Whalvin said 'Everyone worked very hard this weekend to make sure that these 49 cadets learnt a valuable life skill that they can take forward. It will give them confidence to help people in need both inside and outside the ACO. Well done to all of them'.
