Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wing Air Cadets
Commandant at the Wing Conference
Around 120 senior cadets, staff, committee members and chaplains of Hants & Isle of Wight Wing attended this year's Wing Conference at Fort Blockhouse last weekend. Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty was guest of honour and provided an eye opening and honest appraisal of the Corps as it is today coupled with a vision and direction to take us to 2020 and beyond.
The opportunity was taken to recognise some of our high achievers in the Wing. Air Commodore McCafferty presented a Lord Lieutenant's Certificate of Meritorious Service to Mr Kim Sealey, our Wing Treasurer and promoted FS Stefan Dunkerley to Cadet Warrant Officer. Also present was CWO Aaron Webb who only two days before had been presented with the RAF Charitable Trust's Flying Excellence award by Air Marshal Kevin Leeson and Air Commodore McCafferty.
With the OCs of both of our local gliding squadrons at Odiham and Upavon present this truly was a conference to be remembered with the full spectrum of the Corps present in one room. The senior cadets who attended added a sense of reality as to what the Corps is really about. Rest assured there will be more of the same in 2014.
