Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wing Air Cadets
Cadets pass Staff Cadet training
For cadets to remain in the Air Training Corps beyond their eighteenth birthday they have to jump through a number of hoops.
One of these is the Staff Cadet Course which is held regularly in the Wing to allow those cadets who are approaching eighteen to undertake familiarisation training in areas such as duty of care and safeguarding.
Twenty three cadets from all across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight came together at Fort Blockhouse, Gosport to complete the days activities under the direction of Flight Lieutenant Adam Barnett.
Flt Lt Barnett commented "All these cadets know this is a vital part of their transition to Staff Cadets and they are pleased to have got this hurdle out of the way."
The cadets also have to have a sign off from both their Squadron Commander and Officer Commanding Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wing as well as completing an enhanced CRB check before they are eighteen.
The Wing is planning to run two more courses before the school summer holidays and a number towards the end of 2013.
