Clay Target Shooting - Hampshire Staff Team comes 2nd in the Country!

A cold wet windy weekend in Cambridgeshire on 9th-10th March 2013 at the Cambridge Gun Club was the venue for the first ever National Tri Service Cadet Forces Adult Staff Clay Shooting competition.

There were some 40 competitors taking part from all over the country. The ACF and CCF fielded several teams. The ATC were represented with teams from Hampshire & Isle of Wight and Durham.

The Hants and IOW team consisted of WO Waller, Flt Lt Dolly and WO Bradley.
For the technically minded the weekend shooting consisted of a 150 clay target shoot comprising of a 100 clay target sporting on the Saturday shot over 10 challenging stands.

The Sunday shoot was the Down the Line and the Skeet part of the competition.

The Wing team returned some reasonable scores on the Saturday but it was the Hants ACF team who were at the top of the leader board after the first day; the highest score of 84/100 shot by one their team members.

Sunday’s weather started with snow which fortunately did not last. We shot our DTL and the Skeet part of the Competition and well done to WO Bradley for his score on the DTL which he has only shot once before.

Much to our surprise at the prize giving we found ourselves in second place in all three competitions which meant second place overall behind Hants ACF. Second place in the UK is pretty good!

WO Waller came in a very creditable third overall in the individual competition.

WO Waller gives his thanks to the team members. They had a great weekend. The cadet clay target shooting competition will be at the same venue in June this year. The Hampshire Wing team is made up of cadets from Squadrons throughout the Wing.
